Physiotherapy is a form of physical treatment focused on restoring the function and movement of the treated region. Our teams of Physiotherapists work to alleviate mobility difficulties by giving you back the functioning mobility and the independence compromised as a function of age, injury or disease. Through meticulous examination, our Physiotherapists identify the cause of the problem and design an effective treatment – therapeutic exercises in conjunction with other interventions- to accelerate healing.
Our Physiotherapists will inquire detailed information to assess the patient’s functioning mobility and range of motion, by requesting the patient’s medical history, including a medical examination. In some cases when necessary, additional medical information may be sought, including laboratory imaging results (i.e. X-Ray) and electrodiagnostic testing (i.e. electromyograms, EMG) to formulate a detailed and comprehensive picture of the patient’s condition. Our Physiotherapist, after meticulous examination of the patient’s file, will render an impression of the symptoms, alongside a comprehensive and efficient treatment plan to target the function and mobility problems and accelerate healing.
The philosophy we hold at the Art of Facial Rejuvenation is different than most other physical therapy offices. We hold the tenacious belief that our patients want to get better in the shortest period of time- and remain actively involved in the treatment process- so that they can get back to enjoying life to the fullest. We will work with you in the treatment planning phase to establish a reasonable and attainable time-frame that will get you better in the shortest time possible.
Throughout the therapy, we will work alongside the patient to gradually restore maximum movement and functionality by combining a variety of target-specific techniques. The first technique commonly used is Manual Therapy, in which the Physiotherapist works alongside the patient by teaching them physiotherapy exercises; including but not limited to, stretching, strengthening, conditioning, and balancing exercises. A component of the therapy process is also to educate our patients and ensure that they properly learn the exercise techniques and continue to carry them out on their own at home. While our mission is to alleviate and focus on the immediate problem, it is also equally important to us to educate our patients so that they can maintain and prevent future injuries and functional decline.
Motion exercises are also another common form of physiotherapy, where slow movements of pulling and twisting of the muscles and joints is done to release tension and align the body. In such sessions, the use of hands or physio-therapeutic devices are adopted to apply pressure (differing in force and frequency) to alleviate joint pain and assist in less-strenuous movement.
In many settings, using supplementary interventions like therapeutic massage and chiropractic care- administered by registered professionals- in conjunction with physiotherapy has also been shown to be very effective in accelerating the period of recovery. At Art of Facial Rejuvenation , we will work in alongside your physician, chiropractor and massage therapist to develop a thorough treatment plan tailored to you.
Our team at the Art of Facial Rejuvenation looks forward to working with you, and we are available to answer any questions you have.
