Telangiectasia is cause by the widening of tiny blood vessels which results to red-web like pattern on the skin that is why it is called spider webs. These webs varies in color from red, blue to purple. This can be seen commonly on our legs and face and are common to women.

Risk Factors and its Management

  1. Prolonged standing or sitting position
    Use flat footwear. Keep those heels and reserve it for special occasion. If you are allowed to use flats at work, use it instead of having high heels. The higher the heels the higher the risk of having this spider veins because it causes to increase
  2. Genetic and Hormonal
    Since it is genetic and hormonal, one must prevent it by changing its lifestyle and must have a wise choice in clothes and shoes.
  3. Obesity
    Since obesity is one of the factor that contribute to this condition, it is important to lose those excess weight because being overweight put extra pressure to your body especially on your legs’ veins.

Sedentary lifestyle
You can never avoid if your line of work makes you sit or stand long. In order to prevent having spider veins, try having leg exercises while sitting this will promote blood circulation to your lower extremities. And if your job makes you stand long, if you can, and if you have time, sit in a reclining chair and raise for a few minutes your legs.
