Generally, eczema appears to be like a rash and it is hard to determine whether you have it or not that is why it is important to have a consultation with your doctor and manage it as soon as possible. But it if you have been experiencing this for some time, it is important to be aware of the different factors that flame up or trigger this. Below are some of the common things that we may have overlooked as triggering factors:

  1. Hot showers
We may be fond of having hot showers or hot baths especially after an exhausting day. But this refreshingly hot water may trigger the itchiness in our skin. It is better to use lukewarm to cool water when having baths or showers. In this way, our skin will experience the same freshness as well as it doesn’t set off our eczema. After shower NEVER rub the water away but gently tap it with a cloth. Apply your preferred lotion(Thick lotion is highly suggested) to lock in the moisture in your skin.
  1. Flaming Weather
People are mostly fond walking under the sun but unfortunately, it is not always beneficial for everyone. The sun’s UV rays cause our skin to burn when exposed long and it definitely triggers your eczema. It is important to always protect your skin with sunscreen.
  2. Sweat
Yes, sweat makes our skin itchy and it flames up more as it stays in our skin for a long period of time. That is why it is important to wear something that can absorb our sweat like clothes that are made of breathable cotton. You must avoid clothes that are made up of polyester, nylon and rayon. These kinds of clothing material are not absorbent plus it makes you more sweaty.
  3. Cleaning agents
When it comes to our body and clothes, we always choose the best to clean it up. We always choose the best shampoos, bathing soap and detergents especially when we wanted to protect our family and those who has more sensitive skin like babies. It is important that we always follow instructions on the labels especially when using detergents. Use only the amount suggested and never go over it. Avoid using fabric softener as it stays in the clothes. And always rinse the clothes thoroughly. For bathing agents, always check out the labels and ingredients. Better to use a mild and unscented soaps.
  4. Stress in Eczema
Stress makes our body crazy and it somehow triggers a lot of skin condition and eczema is not an exemption. It may not trigger all the time but it worsens it. When we are stressed out, our body produces inflammatory hormones and these hormones irritates our skin. Therefore, it is important to take some time and give yourself a break. And having enough sleep is a must.
  5. Hypersensitivity
what are you allergic of? These allergens triggers and worsen your eczema. Get rid of your pets if their dander is one of your allergens or better yet get a hypoallergenic pet. Clean regularly. Many people are allergic to dust and this is one of the common allergens that irritate the skin. If you are not aware of your allergens, consult your doctor.
  1. Food Sensitivities
Food allergens may worsen the eczema especially for fragile immune system people like children and babies. Always have an awareness of your kids´ allergies. Have them tested by your doctor.
