At the Art of Facial Rejuvenation, we take a thorough approach in providing services ranging from beauty to physical health. As a medical practice, we are sensitive to the needs of our patients, whom the majority lead an active, on-the-go lifestyle, and are seeking devices and aids that can help them attain an everyday comfort. In fact, orthotics are an excellent addition that most qualify for and is covered under insurance upon a consultation with our chiropractor.
Orthotics is an alignment aid that can help individuals from all ages and active lifestyles. An orthosis is a contraption that modifies the structure and function of the neuromuscular and skeletal system. It is used to guide and limit the movement or body segment in a particular direction, thus balancing the forces of weight bearing from one particular area on the foot and joints. It is custom made and tailored to fit the perfect shape of your foot.
At the Art of Facial Rejuvenation, there are two ways in which this can be achieved. The first is through the insertion of custom made inserts, and the second is through a foot bed that is already embedded into the selected shoe. At the Art of Facial Rejuvenation, our patients have over a hundred selections and types of shoes to choose from, and we can custom order any colour or style not within our catalogue.
Foot Orthoses are custom made devices that perfectly fit the shape of your foot. Unlike the generic one size insoles, these orthotics are prescribed to conform to your foot’s anatomy and fill in areas that need additional support for a better, less strenuous walk. The goal is to fix the alignment of your ankle, knee, legs, and foot so that less stress is placed on one specific point and physical activity is made easier. Orthoses can benefit everyone from individuals in strenuous line of work, to athletes, to the elderly, and even individuals suffering from arthritis, and soft tissue inflammatory conditions like plantar fasciitis.
How the Orthoses are made
To design a custom made orthoses that perfectly conforms to the shape of your foot, we will use a plaster of your foot through a Paris Cast or a 3 Dimensional laser scanner to make a cast of each foot. The mould of your foot is then sent to a laboratory where the custom made orthoics are made with the specifications. These orthoses can be used from children, to the elderly and they can accommodate an everyday comfort that many patients desire.
