Getting to know those lines
By: Dr. Masoud Esfahani
The only constant thing in this world is change. As we age, there are a lot of changes that occurs in our body. There are changes in our fashion, appetite, likes, dislikes and there are also changes that is very obvious which includes the color of our hair and the elasticity of our skin. And the change in the elasticity of our skin leads to these unwanted lines which are commonly known as Wrinkles. Those smiles are not the same or as cute as before. As we smile there will be these folds that is dominant in the outer area of our eyes and around our lips.
Be aware that these lines are not only due to aging but there are also factors that contribute to the development of these unwanted lines such as:
- Dry skin
Dry skin will make the wrinkles more prominent. As we age our becomes drying due to lack of collagen. That is why it is important to use moisturizer at all times.
Smoking is the number 1 pro wrinkle thing. The contents of a smoke makes our blood vessels narrow which decrease the blood circulation in the body. And this includes the blood vessels in our skin. As we all know the blood is responsible to distribute the nutrients in the different parts of our body. And so, the more the blood flow is hindered, the system won’t get enough nutrients it needs and this includes our skin. This cause the skin to not only develop early wrinkles but it will make it sag.
Some medications can contribute to the development of these unwanted line. An example of this is your antidepressant medications. Antidepressants inhibits the release of growth hormones which is important to skin regeneration. Therefore it hastens your aging process and eventually you will experience the signs of aging as early as expected.
- Too much sun exposure
Too much sun exposure will cause our skin to age faster due to its Ultra violet rays. The radiation that is emitted by the sun cause the skin to develop such unwanted lines.
